Internet navigation is nowadays a part of the lifetime of many population. After the big bang of social networks, online activities has increased consequently. Even if that it is not widespread yet in some not developed country, a lot of operations happen through the internet. Commerce, barter, financial transaction and other business occurs in this big system. There are web sites where you can share your opinion freely without prejudice. That is the case of social networks, blogs and some open chatting sites. This last situation has encouraged the evolution of online bullying or commonly known as cyber bullying. That phenomenon occurs mainly to children and students. But in order to be clear bullying is a behavior of a person who annoys other person or people to harass or to intimidate. That affects almost all internet users directly or indirectly. So what that really is? And what can we do to stop it?

THE REAL SITUATION OF ONLINE BULLYING

In order to be clear in our issue, bullying is a fact that perturbs victims. That involves everybody such as parents, educators, employees, sportsmen and especially students. Online Bullying is then related to those facts but with the help of internet. That occurs when two peoples’ arguing still continues in social networks. So they might continue arguing in private but the feeling can go worse and they could show it to all users or other visitors. Other situation is when a student wants to denigrate and degrade his fellow by sending or posting something annoying in social networks. Moreover, that can happen when someone would like to disturb, criticize or intimidate a person or celebrities, and publishes false novels or events about them. For parents that might be between two parents of different students or a students against parents. At last but not the least, when student online bullies attack professors to intimidate or defame them.

After that, there are many platforms, devices and systems where persecutors may touch their victims. The evolution of internet has increased it: free access or low cost access. The continuous innovation of some devices like smartphones, laptops, tablets and game device increases the online bullying zone. Many teenagers are interconnected on Facebook, twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. All these platforms promote the online bullying. That is possible because everyone is free to talk about is opinions even if it can hurt, perturb, intimidate or lower someone. The different forms of post allows persecutors to post things that can affect considerably the addressee. So what can we do to stop it?

STOP ONLINE BULLYING: WHAT CAN WE DO?

Children, adolescents and students are the principal victims of this situation because they spends almost all their time online. Even though some sort of people are affected, students and children stays the main targets. However these are some actions that you can do to prevent it. Above all, while chatting or navigating on the web, protection of your personal data may be undertaken: avoid to give phone number, account code, mail address to many people and choose secure password. It is better to be prudent to escape from problems. Don’t forget to configure correctly your accounts if you are on social networks like Facebook, Instagram, or have electronic address like Gmail, or other social media. Shun to accept people you don’t really know, refuse doubtful invitation, block people you don’t really appreciate and try to be careful while posting and sharing something. Show respect when you are browsing. It is important to show that you respect the social network community. That is a need because your behavior can influence other behavior. If we respect each other, any problem might occur. The respect is the base of stopping bullying: respect of private life, respect of a person, respect of others ideas or interest and respect of the human being.

Although these solutions seem to be too easy, don’t hesitate to be strict and increase your privacy setting. You can also contact your web page provider and ask them to protect you privacy. Like in Facebook many privacy options are available in order to increasing the protection of users from photo robbing, account hacked, and insulting posts.

STOPPING ONLINE BULLYING BEGINS FROM FAMILY: THE ROLE OF PARENTS AND EDUCATIONS.

Everyone has got a family that’s why this is important to focus on the role of family, mainly parents and educators, against the online bullying. In a family, conversation is important, so in order to stop your children to be bullied permanently, try to discuss about the problem. Ask their situation and what is happen in their school and in their account. When a child face up to online bullying, parents should help him to overtake this situation. Try to resolve the problem by going from the root: checking his account, blog or other usual web site. Moreover, try to establish and explain some rules and disciplines. For example tell them to use their own device to connect, not to communicate with strangers, to keep social profiles private, not to give personal information to anyone, to use secure passwords and be mindful about what to post. As in real life, to avoid talking with stranger is important because there are many wrong dishonest people.

In sum, education is the base of everything, especially from schools. So they play a vital role in the fight against online bullying. Schools and universities should educate school community about responsible internet use. Students, Parents and each staff needs to know all forms of bullying are wrong and those undertaking it will be subject to discipline. Each of us are responsible for what we do and what are we intending to do. We have to keep in mind that children are sensible to many things, so it is the responsible of adults, educators and teachers to teach them, to guide them in the right way. With the advance of technology of information, the promotion of respect and civism is important to avoid all sort of violence.

Losing your privacy on social media can be hurtful. Students have lots of devices nowdays so it is easy to find victims at school.
