HISTORY OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The boom and history of technology becomes more and more fascinating. Researchers did not stop to give and to find what will help human in their everyday life. At the beginning, the aim is to make life easier in that case brain does not work hard. It decreases stress for human. By the time, researchers develop what we called today « AI » or « Artificial Intelligence ». AI is all the kind of super intelligent alogarithms devices or machines which have the same process of human thinking as the mechanical manipulation symbols.

AI is increasingly launched during the past decade as it has been included little by little in our everyday life from using apps on phone to medicals matters.

THE BEGINNINGS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Historically, Artificial intelligence was said as science fiction, myths, stories and rumours from craftsmen. As said, they spread the fact that artificial human beings was invented to have intelligence and consciousness as a relative human in order to own money. At that time, nobody believed that it was possible to have such machine. Pamela McCorduck even said that AI began with « an ancient wish to forge gold » that means that human thought about something which is not achievable. The idea was taken by philosophers who were inspired of the vacation project. They invented a machine within mathematical reasoning. Even if the project was ongoing, they called the possibility to build an electronic brain into question.

The AI project was handled by many researchers after this reassessment By 1956, Professors from Darmouth College assorted all the idea around artificial intelligencee in order to make it real. One of them is the Professor John McCarthy. He began to expose his idea towards some scientistss who became his associates afterwards. McCarthy persuaded all audience that the project will be called « Artificial Intelligence ». The issues appeared as the project was difficult whereas their equipments did not permit them to reach what they wanted to. In fact, there were problems of computer hardware at that time which does not allow the project to go on.

By the first decade, the problem was solved. Investment as well as computer matters were overcome by researchers. They found solutions to what they need to make the vision came true. AI wrote its history from this time.

THE PROCEDURE : HOW IT’S MADE AND HOW IT BEGAN

The Artificial intelligence procedure was focused by researchers professors from Dartmouth as they aimed to make the unreal to be real. They started to process step by step with a deep analyse of each strides.

First of all, they began with the « Reasoning as search ». In this part, they analysed every paths that leads to a solution at the end. The difficulty was to outcome without anything and the research should be remaded again from the beginning. Well, to avoid this kind of situation, they established many searching programs such as Herbert Gelernter’s Geometry Theorem Prover and SAINT. It was a program which allowed to solve problem on geometry and algebra.

Then, the next step was to find the key of how the AI could speak naturally as a human being. Many scientists had tried to solve the algebra in order to come up to the resolution for this matter and they were helped by students. The most successfull semantic net at that time is ELIZA who can carry a conversation and considered like the first chatterbot. Indeed, the project was real and ELIZA was able to speak. Nevertheless, there was something wrong when discussion went on. She repeated what was said and she was not reasonable at all.

Researchers did not give up to improve what should be added to the project in order to reach the goal « Rational machine ». So, the micro-worlds appeared. A research that is focused on simple artificial situation. That explained the reason why Minsky and Papert created a robot arm which can stack blocks and bring it from world to life. Another concrete creation is the invention of Terry Winograd’s SHRDLU. It could express itself within ordinary languages as simple as it is and had some reflexion of what it wants to entertain thereafter.

SOME FACTS

In China, AI already take part in their everyday life. They help patient in China to detect cancer diseases. We all know that it is more delicate when we talk about cancer but know that Chinese had found the solution to diagnose this kind of disease. The work part for doctor is only to take images of the area that aches. The AI will work through this image by then. They compare the images to all data which are already in the diagnostic database throughout the hospitals country. After AI analysis, it provides to the doctors some images according to those taken which is possible to affected by cancer. At the end, it is the doctors that handle all the operation.

In Japan, they have developed a Carebot which is created to help caring and give duty. They manage population shortage in the labour force for some area in the country. It is beneficial for the country as it provides speed service.

For some company, they highlight security problem by giving solution to pass it over. It is the case of the camera including artificial intelligence. It is easier from now one to leave your home for a long time as your device is connected to your phone and you do not have any worry about what can be happen. Just in one click back home, you can have view for each part of your house. You can also connect to your home by your voice. You have to record your voice and your home will recognise it once the device is on. The advantage for this kind of security is that it simplifies police investigation because your camera has recorded all movement.

For bank concerns, AI can be helpful as well. It has taken some advantages in that terms. For example in China, AI is used if a customer wants to withdraw money. This one has to enter their credit card first. There is face recognition doing by the machine in order to identify the person. Once the person is identified, the machine proceeds to the money withdrawal by providing all the amount the person want to have. It is secure and practicable for all users since there are these kinds of check. All banking including bank transfer, account creation or foreign exchange, the AI can ensure them.
